GERMAN APPLE CAKE

It's the weekend and my amazing husband got up early. So I was woken by the heavenly smell of freshly baked apple cake and coffee. (No, he's not for hire, rent or sale. I definitely want to keep him!!! And yes, he's for real.)

He said he thought we'd need more cake to feed the POS visitors. The visitors had better come early today then. Because I can't guarantee the safety of this cake once Nicky is back from his sleepover.

Scone Palace...

ExhibitionsPosted by Angela Heidemann Fri, September 17, 2010 10:34
...that is 'scone' with a small 's' and rhyming with 'gone'. Not the Perthshire Tourist Attraction... and more of a metaphorical palace, if you happen to like scones.

Since I've been stuck at home minding my open studio, I thought I'd do something worthwhile: I baked scones, lots of scones.

On today's menu we have banana and chocolate scones as well as yoghurt, honey and lemon. Accompanied by Bernie's homemade raspberry jam.

I am currently contemplating whether to turn the apples I have just ...er... liberated... from Over Dalkeith (payment in the form of an apple-related baking product will follow, Katie, I promise) into apple cake, crumble, apple and cinnamon scones or apple sauce. Probably all of the above, but perhaps not in that order.

Open Studios are going well with a steady stream of visitors and sales. smiley
Now back to the oven!

Open Studios in the Scotland on Sunday

ExhibitionsPosted by Angela Heidemann Sun, September 12, 2010 14:13
Yey! We're famous. Sort of.

Scotland on Sunday is running a piece on the Open Studios in their Perthshire Section today and it's featuring Sylvia's picture, currently on display at my open studio!

A big thank you to all who turned up for the preview night on Friday. A great success and lots of buzz.

Spread the word. The exhibition has taken over most of my house (3 rooms, 2 hallways and a staircase) and you've still got until the 19th of September to come and see what's on display.

And it's not just photography (Sylvia), jewellery (Karen) and art (me). I've added a range of felt gift items. It's never too early to start thinking about Christmas!!! (Aaaah, noooooo!!!!)

Open Studios: The sign is up!

ExhibitionsPosted by Angela Heidemann Wed, September 08, 2010 16:36

The countdown is running for Perthshire Open Studios. Only 2 more days to go. The pictures are on the walls, I've put up the sign, now all I need to do is tidy the place and a few more last minute odd jobs. (And there's really no point hoovering prematurely with two boys and two long-haired dogs in the house!) Phew!

Just to remind everyone, this year I have invited my firends and fellow artists Sylvia Breslin and Karen Heriot to exhibit with me. Sylvia is a professional photographer whose delicate close-ups of our local flora and fauna are really worth a look. Karen's silver jewellery is also inspired by nature and delicate yet confident. I've added some of my own hand-felted gift items. So you can look forward to a varied and (hopefully) interesting display.

Here are the dates again:
